Hottest Wedding Trends

Every bride wants to make a statement on her wedding day. We helped to take out all of the guess work by compiling a list of some of the best new practices for trend setting weddings. Feel free to try out what's worked for others, or simply gain a little inspiartion...

Glamorous Hairpieces

Down the runway or down the aisle, the latest and greatest trend for hair décor is voluminous hairpieces. Added to veils or on their own, a crown of flowers or feathers will make a statement… and a stylish one at that. Many brides opt for a subtle rose or lily tucked gracefully into a sleek ponytail, where others are creating a chic collage of pearls, ribbons, feathers and tulle to create a masterpiece of hair art. Many may opt to have a hairpiece made for them, but those creatively inclined brides may find making their own brilliant hair brooch the perfect way to incorporate their own talent into their wedding ensemble.

Cupcakes Galore

Many brides have opted for a more "cake to go" route by replacing the cliché wedding sheet cakes with towers of festive cupcakes! Adorn with a variety of colors, styles and even decorative trinkets, your cupcakes assure guests an even share of everyone’s favorite dessert. This also helps advert guests from sneaking your personal cake that you’ll be cutting and feeding each other, and perhaps would like to take home or freeze. To many a bride’s dismay, unknowing guests have taken pieces or even all of the display cake, not knowing a separate sheet cake was meant for them. Cupcakes are easy, clean, transportable and a great way to add a little fun and individuality to your wedding day

Color Commotion

Don’t get caught up in making sure your wedding is as monochromatic as it might have been expected to be in the past. Have fun with color! The hippest in weddings are incorporating stylish flare into their occasion by implementing unique color burst at every avenue. For example, if your colors are robin’s egg and crème, try dashing crimson or deep plums into your flower arrangements, place settings, or even your ensemble. Bring out your gown with opulent heels, spice up your reception table with patterns and layers, or make the bride and groom’s table stand out from the crowd.

Nontraditional Centerpieces

Although we all can adore a giant pile of flowers in the middle of our table, something about a slightly eccentric centerpiece can truly tickle your guest’s fancy. Whereas flowers won’t last far past your wedding day, a thoughtfully planned centerpiece can be taken home and enjoyed for years to come by you and your guests. The possibilities are endless, but many brides have opted for antique birdcages, fishbowls with betta or angelfish, ornate candle displays, tree branch sculptures, or even edible fruit displays. One new tradition involves baskets being designed as wishing wells, with pencils and papers spread around so guests can toss in a wish for themselves or the newly wedded couple.

Forgo the Tux

Penguin suits are for the birds. Let your groom brighten up your day by ditching the black and having some fun with his attire. From powdery blue, vintage blazers to subtle, smoky grey suits, there are a million ways to get creative and allow your husband-to-be to express his individualism. Not to mention, a tux can rarely be worn, whereas a smart and fashionable article of clothing can be used time and time again. Too nontraditional? Consider bagging the bowtie and letting your guy flaunt a fabulous print necktie to compliment your wedding theme.

Make an Entrance

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we’ve all seen the internet video of the wedding party dancing it up the aisle to the latest and greatest R&B hit on the radio. Truth be told, it was a huge hit with brides and grooms in 2010. Ever since the innovative couple’s video hit the web, fun couples have been putting a creative spin on their own interpretation of how to start the sacred ceremony, typically incorporating a common interest or talent. If you’re daring enough to sacrifice the traditional walk down the aisle, a waltz down the aisle is totally à la mode.
